CCRI Warwick campus on lockdown as police investigate incident

(WJAR) — The Community College of Rhode Island’s Warwick campus was put on lockdown Tuesday morning as police investigated an incident.

According to an alert sent to students and staff, there are reports of an individual with a possible firearm in the woods along Commonwealth Avenue. The alert from CCRI says the Warwick Police Department and the Warwick Fire Department are on scene.

The school says the lockdown was placed as a precautionary measure.

Classes at the campus are suspended until the lockdown is lifted, the schools said.
