Mariners Game #32 Preview and Discussion: SEA at MIN, 4/29

Rise and shine, M’s fans! It’s time for some breakfast baseball.

Despite all the trials and tribulations of the early going, the Mariners enter Wednesday with a golden opportunity to end the month of April with a .500 record. Standing between them and that record is the Minnesota Twins, who, after getting off to a surprisingly solid start in 2026, have cooled off considerably, losing 10 of their last 12 games.

Though the Mariners offense struggled for most of yesterday evening facing Joe Ryan, they came alive late, scoring seven runs over the final four innings and taking advantage of a lackluster Twins bullpen, whose .278 OAA as a unit ranks dead-last in MLB this season.

George Kirby (3.81 FIP) gets the ball for the Mariners in the rubber game of the series, looking to best Taj Bradley (3.80 FIP) and round out the road trip with a win. For more on Bradley and the pitching matchup, check out the series preview.

Leo Rivas gets a day off as Will Wilson makes his second start of the season, batting ninth and playing third base. In his first plate appearance of the season Saturday, Wilson homered on the second pitch he saw for his first career homer, helping the Mariners to an 11-9 win over the Cardinals.

Besides Wilson slotting into the nine-spot, the Mariners are rolling with their usual lineup facing a righty, with Luke Raley and Dominic Canzone batting sixth and seventh, respectively.
