NEW YORK – Wednesday night’s Blue Jays-Yankees game will not start at 7:05 p.m. as scheduled.
About an hour before the original first pitch time at Yankee Stadium, the Yankees announced that the start of their game against Toronto would be delayed due to a forecast of inclement weather.
Severe thunderstorms were expected to move into the area at about 7 p.m.
Fans at the Stadium were informed of the impending delay at 6:15 p.m., but pregame on-field activity went on as scheduled, and the tarp was not immediately rolled onto the field.
The Yankees have won the first two games of this four-game set against the defending AL champs, and Wednesday’s pitching matchup is a good one – Toronto rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage (1-1, 1.40 ERA) vs. Yanks’ righty Cam Schlittler (6-1, 1.35), one MLB’s best through the season’s first eight weeks.
