You’re bound to acquire several power-ups as you explore these areas. Our guide has all the details that you need, as we list down the abilities that we obtained in the campaign in chronological order. Just be forewarned that there are minor spoilers ahead.

GAMES UPDATE Psychic Crystal

Psychic Crystal

  • Location: Obtained in the Chrono Tower at the start of the campaign proper.
  • Effect: This is the first Metroid Prime 4 ability that you receive just after the prologue. It allows you to switch to the Psychic Visor (X button) and fire a Psychic Beam (A or ZR buttons).

GAMES UPDATE Psychic Glove

Psychic Glove

  • Location: Found on a dais in Fury Green.
  • Effect: Allows you to grasp and move Psychic Motes and related objects. This is done by pressing and holding the ZL button and moving the right thumbstick.

GAMES UPDATE Missile Launcher

Missile Launcher

  • Location: Found in Fury Green in the same area where you rescue Mackenzie.
  • Effect: Fire a missile (R button).

Note: You can replenish your rockets by picking up ammo or by resting at save points. You should also acquire Missile Expansions to increase the maximum number of missiles that you can carry.

GAMES UPDATE Control Beam

Control Beam

  • Location: Found in Fury Green just after the bridge encounter. This particular area eventually turns into your base camp in the zone.
  • Effect: Charge up your Psychic Beam (hold the A or ZR button), then steer the projectile using the right thumbstick.

GAMES UPDATE Psychic Bomb

Psychic Bomb

  • Location: A reward after defeating the Carvex boss in Fury Green.
  • Effect: This Metroid Prime 4 ability has a couple of uses when you transform into the Morph Ball (Y button):
    • You can place down bomb charges that eventually explode. This is done by pressing the A button.
    • Alternatively, you can hold down the A button to create a Psychic Mote. Then, when you activate your Psychic Visor, you can grab and throw the mote at devices.

GAMES UPDATE Vi-O-La Suit

You-O-The Suit

  • Location: Can be obtained in Tower 1 of the Volt Forge once you’ve restored the power.
  • Effect: Allows you to ride the Vi-O-La motorcycle. Press the start button to instantly make your vehicle materialize.

GAMES UPDATE Psychic Boots

Psychic Boots

  • Location: A reward for beating the Xelios boss in Volt Forge.
  • Effect: Allows you to double jump and hop on top of Psychic platforms.

GAMES UPDATE Fire Chip/Fire Shot

Fire Chip/Fire Shot

  • Location: The Fire Chip can be obtained from a derelict transporter in Flare Pool. Once you have it, return to the base camp in Fury Green so Mackenzie can turn it into the Fire Shot.
  • Effect: Press down on the D-pad to switch to the Fire Shot. This type of ammo causes targets to burn and melt.

Note: The Fire Shot is the first of several elemental weapons that you pick up in the game. To increase your maximum ammo capacity, you need to collect Shot Expansions.

GAMES UPDATE Psychic Lasso

Psychic Lasso

  • Location: Found in the Bio-Labs in Ice Belt.
  • Effect: This Metroid Prime 4 ability allows you to pull objects toward you. Press and hold the ZL button, then press the left thumbstick and move it downward.

GAMES UPDATE Psychic Boost Ball

Psychic Boost Ball

  • Location: A reward for defeating the Keratos boss in Ice Belt.
  • Effect: The Psychic Boost Ball offers some nifty functions, and it’s activated by holding down the B button while in Morph Ball form:
    • Gain a speed boost when you let go of the button.
    • Powers up spinner machinery.
    • Generates momentum when rolling along half pipes.
    • Lets you travel along materialized psychic boost rails.

GAMES UPDATE Ice Chip/Ice Shot

Ice Chip/Ice Shot

  • Effect: Bring the chip to Mackenzie so he can turn it into the Ice Shot. It can temporarily freeze enemies, as well as magma and lava flows.

GAMES UPDATE Vi-O-La IC Suit

Thunder Chip

  • Location: Once you have the Psychic Grapple, return to Tower 1 – Collapsed Catwalk in Volt Forge. Follow the path until you see chamber that has dozens of generators. The one at the back-left has a compartment that contains this item. Oh, and be ready to battle a variant of the Sylux boss once you pick it up.
  • Effect: Just like the other elemental shots, you need to bring the chip to Mackenzie to unlock the function. This particular shot zaps and stuns enemies, and it can also be used to power up devices and doorways.

GAMES UPDATE Psychic Spider Ball

Psychic Spider Ball

  • Location: Acquiring this ability upgrade in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond can be quite a doozy. Here’s the gist:
    • You need to have all the upgrades mentioned above. Then, return to the Ice Belt – Lobby and use Thunder Shot on the doorway.
    • In the Equipment Storage, shock the sleeping mech with Thunder Shot. It will introduce itself as VUE-995.
    • Scan obstacles and doorways so VUE can punch them to smithereens. You’ll eventually arrive at a cliffside area.
    • Use your Psychic Grapple to cross the gap, and you’ll soon find yourself at the Ancient Temple.
    • Use your psionic powers to toss the two motes toward the indentations in the statue. This unlocks the Psychic Spider Ball ability.
  • Effect: While in Morph Ball mode, hold the ZL button when near purple tracks or tether nodes. This allows you to magnetize and travel along railings or launch yourself higher from tethers.
